Color photograph of a 1965 marker in Mishawaka, IN, honoring the nursing contributions of the Sisters of the Holy Cross during the Civil War. At the October 1861 request of Governor Oliver P. Morton, Mother Angela Gillespie and 80 Catholic nuns in her order worked as military nurses and, in 1862, served on the U.S.S. Red Rover hospital ship. The information sign is navy blue with gold lettering and was erected by the Indiana Civil War Centennial Commission.
